Automatic Coal Feeder
My Role
Project Manager
My Experience
As the project manager, I lead a team of 3 other students in a two-quarter-long capstone project for the Stanford Mechanical Engineering department. I used what I learned from my athletic experience as a team leader to lead a diverse team with a singular goal. From this project, I improved my decision-making and communication when operating under strict deadlines. As a group of individuals with vastly different perspectives and experiences getting the team to work together was a challenge at first. I started meeting with each individual and soon learned their strengths. I was able to delegate the tasks to different individuals based on their strengths and the team started making significant strides.

Locked Bike Lock
My Role
Project Manager
My Experience
In a quarter-long task, I lead a team small team of two others. We decided on a problem that involved multi-body stresses which we could analyze. As a team, we analyzed a bike locker holder that collapse down on the bike lock under low temperatures. The lock would become fixed to the holder. Using COMSOL we simulated the shrinkage of the holder and the appropriate force that the holder would exert on the bike lock. I had the opportunity to solve this problem with my tea. I worked on my ability to delegate tasks and hold my team on a tight deadline. As part of the class, my team was the only one who was able to accurately diagnose the issue and implement the solution we had.
Deliverables
Full FMEA analyses of the part, Accurate simulation of stress on the part, Functioning bike holder
